The internet is a big place.

What's more: there are a lot of pieces, standards and concepts that make it work.

This is a collection I'm starting of all the things I think can be valuable for anyone to know about how the internet works. It will be especially valuable for anyone who's dabbling with web development who wants a good resource for all things internet.

One of the most common things everyone will experience in someway or another is HTTP Status Codes. If you've ever seen a "not found" page (404 status code) or visited a website when it was down (5xx status codes), you've probably seen numbers on the page that meant nothing to you. Those are HTTP Status Codes.
