Bus Factor (term)

Essays and updates on product, engineering, and AI by Chase Adams.

Bus Factor is a term that I learned in the tech industry.

Bus Factor means "the risk of a system being irrecoverable or unknowable due an individual 'getting hit by a bus'.

It's primarily used as a way to determine if enough information has been shared about a system that the person who is primarily responsible is unavailable.

My peer Duncan Smith recommended a better, more human centric alternative: Beach Factor (term).
